yMAK is a group of young adults (16 to 26-year-olds) who are interested in museums, design, art, architecture, and innovation, as well as in our future, and who want to make changes.

This network of young people provides the opportunity to connect at events, parties, workshops, or discussions and to develop ideas together how new spaces for exchange can be created. (y)MAK aims to encourage a critical discussion on cultural and political topics while involving young artists and providing them with a platform.

yMAK sees itself as a constantly changing collective of young people that is influenced, shaped, and changed by its members.

Fashion and Identity is our focus at youngMAK in 2026.

Back in October 2025, we started our open call for new members. Because we had some questions:

  • Who’s bringing a ballroom to the museum with us?
  • How (un)sexy is unisex?
  • Can fashion be a form of protest?
  • What have you always wanted to do in a museum?
  • What inspires you style?

And we received a lot of great responses! It’s about time we bring these ideas to life at MAK. Together with our new members we started our research-phase in December. We meet with experts from the fields of fashion and identity, visit fashion-studios based in Vienna, take part in guided tours and go to a ballroom – all to collect as much inspiration as possible.

Our takeaways from our research-phase will then be transformed into events open to everyone. Partys, open formats and a lot more is waiting for you!

So stay tuned for our upcoming events starting Mid-April!
