5 p.m. Refreshment
with the Schwimmverein Donaukanal [Danube Canal Swimming Club]
(Meeting point at the MAK Foyer, fully booked)
Together with the Schwimmverein Donaukanal, we will walk to the Danube Canal and go swimming.
The Schwimmverein Donaukanal is committed to revitalizing the Danube Canal as a swimming venue in Vienna’s city center and has set itself the goal of establishing a new culture of river swimming on this inner-city arm of the Danube—a culture in which the risks of a flowing body of water are dealt with self-responsibly and considerately. Swimming in the Danube Canal allows us to see and experience the city from exciting new perspectives. The Schwimmverein Donaukanal strives to collaborate with all users of the Danube Canal to make swimming safe and possible in the future.
Talk + Party
MAK Kunstrasen (only in good weather)
Admission via Fritz-Wotruba-Promenade
Free admission
6 pm Talk
Amanda Sperger from the swimming club in conversation with Emma Altmüller from (y)MAK
Afterparty
Drinks and Musik by Amore AG
Party furniture by Nicole Schadensteiner and Nina Gstaltner, (y)MAK
Specifically for the event, Nina Gstaltner and Nicole Schadensteiner from (y)MAK designed and built furniture from recycled PVC scraps. Inspired by the complex shapes of horn corals, the modular structure was created for communal use and social interaction.
Nina Gstaltner and Nicole Schadensteiner are interdisciplinary designers from Vienna and part of the (y)MAK Collective.
The event will be taking place in the context of the exhibition WATER PRESSURE: Designing for the Future.
