The exhibiton will be shown with a concept based on the MAK’s 2021 exhibition WOMEN ARTISTS OF THE WIENER WERKSTÄTTE. With this internationally acclaimed exhibition, the MAK directed attention to women designers who have garnered little notice thus far, while having substantially broadened the spectrum of the Wiener Werkstätte.
17.7.2026—15.11.2026
The Jewish Museum, New York
The focus of the exhibition in the Jewish Museum will be on the contributions of Jewish women artists, who made up around a quarter of the designers working for the Wiener Werkstätte (WW). After the “Anschluss,” some of them, like ceramic artist Susi Singer, emigrated to the USA. Already in 1928, Vally Wieselthier moved to New York, where she was very successful. Based on the MAK’s extensive WW Archive, the exhibition shows a cross-section of the artists’s works.
